When did washing a dog exhaust you very quickly?

When I saw a groomer abuse my dog, I was furious. She thought she should be paid for hurting my dog and that was going to happen on a cold day in hell. I saw what she did to Belle and I was livid. Anyway, long story short, Belle became afraid of water that day and it was really difficult to get her to accept being bathed again. I had to go very slowly, talk to her constantly, not use too much water, always have the right temperature. She disliked the shampoo. She didn’t want the conditioner. She was shivering and shaking. She wanted to be held and I had to keep prying her off my shirt front. I got soaked, my surroundings got soaked, the long-haired dog was dripping wet and crying like she was being killed, which in turn stressed me out. It took a long time and drying her was no picnic either because she was afraid of that now too. It took many towels, a lot of floor mopping, a lot of effort to convince her to let me dry her off. I had a professional grade dryer but the air was now too forceful and it was too loud so I ended up using my own hairdryer. She still wanted to be held so of course I let her sit in my lap while I brushed her out. It was a long day.
